Jane Weightman started the business as a sole trader in September 1989 after typing out 30 individual letters to local companies on an electric ‘golf-ball’ typewriter. She received one positive response – from the DEB Group in Belper, Derbyshire, who became CLT’s first client, taking classes in business French and German.
Since then CLT have expanded throughout the UK and abroad, with language courses running in Munich, San Francisco, São Paolo, Buenos Aires, Miami, Paris and Brussels.

With hundreds of clients from a wide range of industries and sectors including banking, sport, fashion, telecommunications, manufacturing, energy and law, CLT have built up a loyal and continuously expanding base of global customers.
After a quarter of a century in the business, Jane, along with her team of Key Account Managers, still enjoys meeting new clients and tutors, finding out about different products and services and, of course, takes great satisfaction in organising successful language training programmes for her clients.
