Thank you …

We’d like to thank the many people who have said how much they like our new Learn English Play Golf website. For those who may not have seen it, the site can be viewed on www.learnenglish-playgolf.com.

The programme is becoming increasingly popular with overseas businesspeople who want to combine an opportunity to develop their English language skills with games of golf at some of the region’s finest courses – including a round at the famous Belfry for those with an appropriate handicap.

Sweden is plain sailing for Stena

Stena Line’s IT Business Support Manager is steaming ahead with his study of Swedish. He has already completed a one-week intensive course with CLT tutor Marianne Clarke and is now hoping to do further fast-track courses with CLT to build on his progress. He often travels to Gothenburg, where Stena (one of the world’s largest ferry companies) has its head office. He is keen to improve his ability to speak and understand the language of his company colleagues and wants to do more Swedish training with CLT because of the ‘superb training and excellent tuition’.

‘Babytalk’ lessons for Organix six

Employees of Organix, leading manufacturers of organic baby food, have been given a big pat on the back by CLT language trainer Viviane Bhagwanani for the way in which they have set about learning French.

The key members of staff studied on a special weekly training programme designed to boost their language skills so they can communicate more effectively when they visit factories and meet with Organix development teams in France.

Viviane commented: “The ladies were so keen to learn. It was wonderful to teach a group of this calibre who are so motivated and hardworking.”

CLT win top language award - again!

We were delighted to be named winner of the International Business Communication Awards - Language Provider - at the Marriott Hotel, Leicester. All the more pleased as this is the second time we have won first prize at these prestigious Awards, organised and sponsored by UK Trade + Investment.

Combining UK Training with Courses Overseas

CLT have built up excellent working relationships with a number of overseas associates in Madrid, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam and Venice. This enables us to offer intensive courses overseas in many locations which enhance the learning experience of our clients. Clients currently benefiting from this service include O2 and BPB.

Telephone training

CLT offers training by telephone to clients who are unable to attend face to face lessons each week. C Froehlicher from Fraisa in Switzerland chose this option after doing a one week intensive course in the UK and finds it a really convenient way to keep up her business English skills now that she is back home in Switzerland. Over 20 different languages can be taught by telephone by CLT tutors giving clients the option to have the training whenever they have a free moment.

Getting out of the training room

Key staff from Statoil (Moscow), Dystar (Germany) Red Bull Air Race (Austria) and Lufthansa (Germany) are just a few of the overseas delegates who have attended our specialised intensive English training courses held in the Peak District of Derbyshire over the past year. Formal training has been enhanced by practical opportunities to use English and cultural experiences through accompanied outings to Chatsworth Park, Buxton Opera House, Heights of Abraham (Matlock Bath), Leeds Armoury and many more local venues. M Karpushin of Statoil Moscow wrote to us: 'Thank you for this course. It was wonderful!'

See what we can do!

CLT is helping senior managers and key staff at O2 in Slough, London and Leeds to capitalise on opportunities stemming from the takeover of the business by Spanish telecoms giant Telefonica. Feedback from both O2 and Telefonica staff on their Spanish and English training has been very complimentary. The team described their programme as 'very effective', 'thoroughly enjoyable' and 'giving a real insight into the Spanish language and culture'

CLT programme delights Professor Antonina

Professor Antonina Stoupakova, a petro-geologist with Statoil, Moscow, spent two weeks on an intensive course in the Peak District specially designed to boost her English skills. Antonina praised the 'excellent training', the CLT tutors and the cultural experiences she enjoyed in Derbyshire, whilst her line manager reported 'a significant improvement' in her English skills on her return to Moscow. On Antonina’s recommendation several of her colleagues from Statoil have visited the UK for English training with CLT over the past year.

CLT proved me wrong!

Victoria Scott, Regional Director France, for Readers Digest was surprised at how well she coped with French and said 'Just when I thought my brain was past learning, CLT tutor Valerie Cottez came along and proved me wrong . . . Building language skills in a language is difficult and with a busy schedule, it would be easier to give up and hope everyone is happy to speak English! Valerie has helped me to realise that it is not impossible and my colleagues in France are really appreciative of my endeavours'.

Simply the best . . .

When it comes to learning foreign languages, nobody does it better than Elastrogran, part of the BASF group based in Ludwigshafen, Germany. Members of staff of the Derbshire-based company have been learning German with CLT for the past 7 years and have achieved 100% success rate in exams!

Sotheby's speak French

When the Deputy Director of Contemporary Art at the world famous auction house Sotheby's decided that he should speak to his French clients in their own language, he called upon CLT to design an appropriate course for him. His reaction after his first lesson? = 'Excellent!' Since then Sotheby's have returned to CLT whenever they needed foreign language training. Courses have been held in French, German, Spanish and Italian at the famous New Bond Street home of the auction house.

One-stop language shop

CLT and TransAction Translators have decided to formalise a long-standing referral arrangement to create a 'one-stop language shop'. Websites are now linked enabling the international business community to access the 'ultimate language service package', including language training, translating and interpreting.
