CLT design specialist English training courses which provide international footballers with the English skills they need to communicate with team-mates and management.
Whether for pre-match briefing sessions, instructions during training, half-term pep talks, media interviews, club podcasts or simply chatting with fellow players, CLT English training programmes are helping overseas footballers integrate fully into their new clubs.
Players from Manchester City FC, Stoke City FC and Nottingham Forest FC have benefited from our weekly onsite English training sessions and have been full of praise for their tutors – Pablo Zabaleta of Manchester City (pictured below left) said "You have given me an excellent teacher – Tricia is fantastic!"

Our tutors are extremely flexible and arrange training sessions to fit in with the footballers’ busy schedules. Tuition takes place either at the training ground or at the player’s home.
Zabaleta was determined to improve his English when he arrived in the UK and has worked hard with CLT tutor Tricia Preston to achieve his goal.
‘Zabby’ said "It is important because we need to speak with team mates and managers. When I arrived here it was difficult for me but now I can speak to everyone."
Pablo was so happy with his English training that he encouraged his fellow Argentinean team mate Carlos Tevez to have lessons with CLT.
CLT have also been training Brazilian team mate Robinho in English.
English training can also help young overseas players settle into their new clubs and adjust to life in UK.
Diego Arismendi, the Uruguayan international midfielder, signed for Stoke City FC in September 2009 and told the Club’s magazine ‘Loud & Proud’ “I’m having to grow up very quickly because I was living at home with my family whereas now I have to fend for myself in a strange country."*
Diego is now taking regular English lessons with CLT tutor Sarah Guise (pictured left) and once his English has improved he feels that he will integrate much better into the life of the club as well as his local surroundings.

CLT also arrange foreign language training at the clubs to help coaching staff to communicate with overseas players, as well as providing interpreters and confidential translating in 20 languages.
